The Basics of Reversing Neuropathy

As we all know, our conventional medical system is a reactive system when it comes to chronic conditions. The US is ranked among the best when saving someone from near death experiences, but our mortality and health ratings are at 57th. We commonly try to fit these chronic conditions into an acute care model, and we fail miserably with drugs, surgeries, and injections. With neuropathy, we are dealing with a multitude of causes that create a condition called hypoxia, the lack of oxygen getting to the tissues. This requires addressing the root cause and unfortunately there is no pill, potion, lotion, or surgery that addresses this. We have to look at the body’s physiology to correct this.

So, let’s talk about 95% of neuropathy cases. There are two types. The first type of neuropathy is circulatory neuropathy. With this patient, you will find patients with pre-diabetes, diabetes, circulatory challenges, and also patients that have been on a downward spiral with their overall health which has caused the constriction of the circulatory system, cutting off blood flow to the micro-vessels in the extremities. The second type of neuropathy will be toxicity-induced neuropathy. This type of neuropathy can be caused by chemotherapy and/or statin medications.

In simple terms, I like using the analogy of a plant. With these conditions, our body starts to form a process called hypoxia. This is when the lack of blood flow and nutrients are being cut off from the nerve causing the nerves to start to die. So just like a plant, when we cut off oxygen, nutrients, sunlight, and water from that plant it starts to die.

Patients are being told day in and day out that nerves cannot regenerate. The reason why they are being told this is because in most clinics the tools they are using are all reactive: Cymbalta, which is for bi-polar & depression, Neurotin, Gabapetin, Lyrica, or maybe some nerve blocks to kill the pain. We all know that the nerve is an organism just like a plant. If we give it what it needs, then it will regenerate. If we tried to feed a plant poison, chemical, we all know this would not allow the plant to regenerate. Quite the opposite. It’s simple, we give the nerve what it needs. The entire program revolves around driving blood and oxygen to the nerves.

We know that neuropathy is from the lack of blood flow to the nerve, then we have to give the patient tools to increase blood flow to that nerve by addressing the damaged areas with stimulation and light therapy, and address the hypoxia internally with the non-inflammatory diet along with specific supplements that are going to alkalize, detox, and increase blood flow through the nitric oxide effect. Simply by restoring normal physiology, the body knows exactly what to do.

Neurogenesis: How to Change Your Brain

As one might expect, the process of neurogenesis is controlled by our DNA. A specific gene codes for the production of a protein, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) which plays a key role in creating new neurons.
